The quest for conceptual abstract photography
It was in 2014, when browsing through magazines for collage material, that NIVANNI stumbled upon some pictures of a volcanic eruption. He spent days thinking about what impression they left on him.
Around the same time, he was taught in school about the conceptual and modern arts. It was this confluence of circumstances that lead to the idea of recreating that impression in a modern way, through the use of a camera instead of brushes and paint. This gave birth to the dream of revolutionizing photography.
He began his quest by moving away from the classical form of photography that still dominates to this day. No more portraits, nor wildlife, nor landscapes or architecture. Only imagination and experimentation, driven by the internal childlike admiration for his surroundings.
" The art is to keep an open mind and to blend this impulsiveness with the technical understanding of what is possible with a camera and its lens intakes. This provides a fresh perspective on composition and execution that I apply in my preliminary studies, before really bringing my concept to life. From this point on, I get to work, taking hundreds of pictures before I get to the desired photograph. " - NIVANNI
The dedication to refine his art is what resulted in his very first artwork titled ‘Volcano’. Now, after just over a decade of exploring and trying to perfect his art form, NIVANNI strives to keep an open mind and to be inspired on a daily basis.
