The quest for conceptual abstract photography

His journey began in 2014, when he was browsing through magazines for collage material and came across a remarkable picture of a volcanic eruption. This image intrigued him so much that he spent days thinking about it. Around the same time, he was taught in school about the modern and conceptual arts. These events in combination with his love for photography, lead to the idea of recreating the image in a revolutionising way.

NIVANNI’s quest began with moving away from the classical form of photography and instead using only imagination and experimentation, driven by his inner childlike admiration for the environment. This resulted in his very first artwork, titled ‘Volcano’. His journey of conceptual abstract photography had begun. A decade later, the artist still tries to keep an open mind and tries to stay inspired on a regular basis, while perfecting his artform.

“The art is to keep an open mind and to blend impulsivity with the technical understanding of what is possible with a camera and its lens intakes. This provides a fresh perspective on composition and execution. Sometimes hundreds of photographs precede before I get to the desired image(s).”
